INDIA'S Government urged internet giant Google to correct its depiction of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir as part of Pakistan.
Google Insights for Search, which provides a visual representation of search volume patterns across specific regions, showed the disputed region as Pakistan, The Times of India reported.
Kashmir, that shares borders with India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and China, is a disputed territory among the three countries. Pakistan controls the northwest portion, India controls the central and southern portion and Ladakh, and China controls the northeastern portion.
"Any wrongful depiction of Indian map and its boundaries is liable for action under the India Information Technology Act. Google has been asked to immediately correct this inaccuracy," Minister of state for telecom and IT Sachin Pilot told the media outlet.
Our hope Google would correct Indian Map and follow one map policy.
